This past Wednesday, January 8th, marked the opening day of the 434th Session of the Maryland General Assembly, and my fourth “regular” Session. I look forward to addressing the many challenges facing our State, but also the numerous opportunities to improve peoples’ lives in Baltimore and in Maryland. As in past years, each week I will be sending you a legislative update detailing new developments affecting the 46th District. I want to hear your thoughts and opinions on any issue important to you, and I encourage you to contact me with any ideas, suggestions, or comments on topics important to you. You can contact me via email at firstname.lastname@example.org, over the phone at 410-841-3303, or through my Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Luke-Clippinger-for-Delegate/103463901666?ref=ts).
I also encourage you to visit Annapolis if you’d like to speak with me or my staff. You can contact my office to schedule an appointment, and I will also plan to be in my office on Monday evenings between 6 and 8pm throughout Session if you’d like to stop by. Please don’t be a stranger; I am here to serve you.
* Opening Day: The 2014 Session of the Maryland legislature convened at noon on Wednesday, January 8, and will continue through April 7. In a session attended by numerous State and Federal elected officials – including Governor Martin O’Malley, Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown - I and 187 of my colleagues started work on the 434th Session of the General Assembly. Speaker Michael E. Busch (Dist. 30) and Speaker Pro Tem Adrienne A. Jones (Dist. 17) were each elected for a twelfth year as Speaker and Speaker Pro Tem, respectively.
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce the new staffers in my office. Charles “Chuck” Conner joined our office in October as my new Chief of Staff. Chuck comes to us from the great state of South Carolina. Chuck is a graduate of Davidson College, Duke University, and the Charleston School of Law. If you need anything, or would like to get in touch with our office, please reach out to Chuck and he will be more than happy to assist you as best he can.
Margaret Barker is my new Legislative Intern. She is a senior Honors student at UMBC. She has aspirations to attend law school upon her graduation. She is fluid in French and is originally from Ghana.
Please welcome them both warmly as they begin their service of you and the rest of the 46th District!
Over the next several weeks, I'll share more about the legislation that I will be introducing during this session of the legislature. As always, if you have any questions, concerns or ideas regarding legislation, , please contact me at 410-841-3303 or at Luke.Clippinger@house.state.md.us with any thoughts, ideas, or concerns.
